After a few days of 40 degree weather (l04F) the peaches all ripen at once.

Overabundance

Newcomers to Cawston find the over-abundance of fruit that is wasted overwhelming and they try to use it all up. Some people never reach the stage where they can shrug and say "Oh well".

Main Street packinghouses

Our Main Street has two organic packinghouses to handle all the fruit grown in this area.

Kars Under the K

It isn't all work and no play here in this valley. On BC Day, Keremeos, our nearest town, hosted Kars Under the K. The mountain behind the cars is called K Mountain for obvious reasons.

Our small valley in southern BC can boast one of the highest concentrations of organic growers anywhere in Canada. Some of our farmers have grown organically since the early 60s.

Similkameen River
